Here I&#8217;ve rendered a scene with all the 3DS anti-aliasers, to compare how they fare. The scene is a ring (which you might wear on a finger), using Neil Blevins <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neilblevins.com\/cg_education\/gold\/gold.htm\">beautiful gold material<\/a>. The subject is 5 intersecting toruses, scanline renderer, with an HDR skylight based on\u00a0Desk_Sm_Blurry.hdr. I discovered that all the anti-aliasers are very susceptible to the radiosity quality, there is a huge difference in the artifacts between the 85% default and 99% radiosity that I used.<\/p>\n<p>Area, nice at first glance, but a bit cartoony<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Area.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-558\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Area.jpg\" alt=\"loops05Area\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Blend,\u00a0not suitable for this kind of texture<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Blend.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-551\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Blend.jpg\" alt=\"loops05Blend\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Blackman, a little blurry but quite realistic<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Blackman.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-552\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Blackman.jpg\" alt=\"loops05Blackman\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Catmull-Rom. Convincing, but a little too much<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05CatmullRom.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-553\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05CatmullRom.jpg\" alt=\"loops05CatmullRom\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cook Variable. Very crisp in the highlights, a bit blurred elsewhere<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Cook.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-555\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Cook.jpg\" alt=\"loops05Cook\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cubic.\u00a0Poor unlit areas<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Cubic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-556\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05Cubic.jpg\" alt=\"loops05Cubic\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mitchell-Natravali. Crisp compromise, my favourite<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05MitchellNetravali.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-557\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calvert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/loops05MitchellNetravali.jpg\" alt=\"loops05MitchellNetravali\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quadratic.
